Frequently asked questions

Q: Do I need to bring my mouthpiece to get my saxophone’s crook re-corked?
A: Yes, we can then more precisely tailor the set up to your playing without compromising tuning.  This will get the best result for you.

Q: Can AB&W repair larger instruments like a bassoon, a bass clarinet or a bass saxophone?
A: Yes, we repair everything from a piccolo to a tuba.

Q: How long do you need my instrument to service it?
A: Generally we will need it between 2 working days to 1 week but it depends on the instrument type, the complexity of the repair, as well as how busy we are.

Q: Are same-day services available?
A: AB&W can undertake same-day services and ‘while you wait’ repairs but for certainty, as far as possible, please organise them in advance.

Q: What payment types do you accept?
A: We accept cash, card or bank transfer.

Q: Do you offer a student discount?
A: Yes, AB&W offer a 10% discount on repairs and services for Leeds Conservatoire students due to our long established and in-depth working relationship with Leeds Conservatoire.

Q: Can I come and try an instrument before I buy it?
A: Absolutely! It is important to us that you to find the right instrument and we are well known for, and pride ourselves on, the no pressure purchase guidance we offer.  We have a specially set up, private demo room to support this.

Q: How often should I get my instrument serviced?
A: This depends on how frequently you play but we recommend at least once every 12 - 18 months. Smaller repairs and maintenance may be required between services.
